Tim and I, bestest of buds, set out one September as a rebellious get away to enjoy the finest experience America had to offer, the Big Apple. Well in truth, I stayed with a bunch of koreans, ate mexican or italian most nights and spent my days reading a book about the English rampaging across America and the Dutch setting up the first church in New York. I didn't really talk with many Americans, apart from when they were hungering after me to buy something in a shop or verbally plying with demands that I accept more 'cawfee'!
So after 6 days in New York I didn't really come away with a great experience, certainly not one that I couldn't have had in London, Paris or Sydney. But the highlight was speaking with a sweet lady on the way home. In a short 7 hour flight and in her 'awesome' American accent, she plainly told me of the American dream and what it meant to her. I just couldn't help but be inspired. Here's to that sweet lady and her dream.
